Computer hardware maker Hewlett Packard (HP) has announced a new line of desktop PCs and accessories that, among several other cool items, features a new energy saving, eco-conscious flat screen monitor.

HP says that its new x2301 23-inch Micro Thin LED backlit monitor has been made w ith arsenic free glass and uses mercury-free LED backlights. The monitor is reportedly Energy Star 5.0 qualified and meets the criteria necessary to earn EPEAT Silver registration.

To achieve the ultra thin profile, HP has placed the electronics and ports are within the monitor's translucent aquamarine base. The X2301 otherwise appears gloss black with brushed anodized aluminum accents. The ultra-thin monitor offers full HD resolution, anti-glare technology a 3ms response time and a high-dynamic contrast ratio.

HP's latest monitor is expected to be available on June 10 in the U.S. at an initial price of $279.99.
